- This
project involved
the complete
renovation of
the entire Telemetry
wing for the
Hospital. The
Telemetry Unit
is part of the
hospital's CardioVascular
Institute which
specializes
in offering
cardiology services
and houses the
region's only
complete Cardiac
Care Center.
As such maintaining
uninterrupted
operation of
this unit was
a critical requirement
of the renovation.
- The
Telemetry Unit
provides continuous
wireless monitoring
for patients
recovering from
heart surgery
or other cardiac
procedures.
As all patients
were relocated
for the initial
phase of the
construction
project, all
heart-monitoring
equipment was
removed, relocated
and re-installed
in other areas
of the hospital.
- Construction
during this
phase included
complete renovation
of hallways,
patient rooms
and bathrooms.
The scope of
the project
included replacing
the existing
flooring, lighting
and plumbing
fixtures. Finishing
touches included
stained chair
rails, handrails,
new Corian®
countertops
and laminate
wardrobes.
- Adherence
to the hospital's
strict infection
control policies
was imperative
and necessitated
the installation
of temporary
wall partitions
and negative
air machines.
